Don Jellison, sportswriter and good friend
Don Jellison became the sports reporter during my second or third year of coaching at Noblesville.

He did a tremendous job of reporting all sports. He never demeaned me, or my players, rather he built us up.

Thank you Sen. Young
My eighty-four-year old mom moved from her home into assisted living. We needed help with the expenses involved in her daily care. Since my father served in the Army for many decades, we investigated Aid and Assistance benefits. Over and over, we had to supply various pieces of paperwork that we had already sent. Our records were misplaced within the Veteran Assistance systems. Paperwork bounced back and forth between several cities, and finally we turned to Senator Todd Young's office for hope.

Opposes cuts in benefits
As a member of the federal community who served our country for years, I am deeply concerned that my hard-earned benefits will be cut to offset proposed tax policy changes. I ask my representative and senators to oppose such cuts to the federal community.

The Second Amendment
I believe the second amendment needs to be evaluated not replaced. At the time the second amendment was authored our country was 90 percent wilderness, the most sophisticated weapon was a single shot muzzleloader. This was a smooth-barreled weapon, no rifling, that you could not hit anything with at a distance of 20 yards. We also thought the British might return.

I've got the Joy
Joy, Joy Joy, Down in my Heart. Where? Down in my heart! This tune, keeps ringing in my ears as I prepare for the third Sunday in Advent. This week our "Joy" candle will be lit on the Advent wreath, and we will invite each other to share in the deep love of Christ that brings us inexplicable Joy. Often times, I have heard the argument that there is a difference between joy and happiness, but they are hard to distinguish.

It's been a difficult year
This certainly has been a hard 12 months to take.

If anybody had asked me to name the people I thought most personified Noblesville during my lifetime, Irving Heath, Don Roberts, Don Jellison, and Garrick Mallery would have been right up there at the top of the list.

Lots of music, drama in schools
Attending this month's Noblesville Chamber of Commerce Holiday Luncheon got me thinking about all of the awesome music-related holiday productions this month at Noblesville Schools.

North Elementary's 11-member fourth-grade Hand Chimes Choir, which the community heard at the Noblesville Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in November, performed "Away in a Manger" and other lovely holiday songs as Chamber guests arrived and enjoyed the holiday luncheon.
