The Indy Express Bus is changing its schedule, effective Tuesday.
The schedule is being reduced from three departures to two departures in the mornings and evenings in an effort to increase operating efficiencies by using one bus rather than two for each route.
The change is in response to input from current Indy Express Riders.
Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA) operates the bus.
We've tried to accommodate the greatest number of current riders, most of whom work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Indianapolis," Patricia Castañeda, mobility manager at CIRTA, said in a prepared media statement.
The bus departs park-and-ride lots in Fishers and Carmel on weekday mornings and travels nonstop to downtown Indianapolis, where it stops at nine locations. At the end of the day, it picks up at the same locations and arrives back at the park-and-ride lots.
Here's the new schedule:
Fishers: 6 and 7:10 a.m., departs park-and-ride at Eastern Star Church, 8850 E. 106th St. Returns at 3:55 and 5:15 p.m., departs from Pennsylvania and Ohio streets, downtown.
Carmel: 5:50 and 7:10 a.m., departs from park-and-ride at Meijer, 1424 W. Carmel Drive. Returns at 3:45 and 5:20 p.m., departs from Pennsylvania and Ohio streets, downtown.
IUPUI access will be available only at these times: departing Fishers at 7:10 a.m., returns at 3:40 p.m., departs from IUPUI; departing Carmel at 7:10 a.m., returns at 3:30 p.m., departs from IUPUI.
After the first week of service, the first morning departures may be adjusted slightly based on traffic at that hour.
Indy Express Bus will not operate on Monday, due to the Labor Day holiday.
