Ditslear to Serve as Eagle Board Reviewer
The Times

Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear will serve as a reviewer for the Del-Mi District Eagle Scout Board.

Local Boy Scouts who have met all requirements to be considered for the rank of Eagle Scout go through a final board of review each month in the Del-Mi District, which is comprised of 27 Boy Scout Troops in Hamilton and Tipton Counties.

Becoming an Eagle Scout takes years of dedication, commitment, and leadership. Only 4 percent of Scouting's national membership attains the rank of Eagle.

Former Carmel High School Social Studies Department Head, Dave Bardos, has served as Eagle Board Chair for more than 10 years and has guided more than 1,000 youth through this process in his 32 years as a Scouting leader.

Del-Mi District recommended 93 Scouts for the Eagle rank in 2016, and 25 so far this year.

Each board of review is composed of at least three members, including a district Scouting leader and several adult members of the community, who are not required to be registered Scouting volunteers. During this review, the youth is asked to reflect on Scouting's impact on his life, unit, school and community.

Eagle board of reviews take place the third Thursday of each month. Each interview lasts approximately 30-50 minutes.
