AT&T Aspire contribution fuels Launch Fishers Fellowship program
The Times

FISHERS - The Launch Fishers High School Fellowship program returned for its third year in 2017, backed by an AT&T Aspire contribution of $25,000.

AT&T's signature philanthropic initiative, AT&T Aspire drives innovation in education - through technology, social innovation and relationships - to ensure all students have the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

"AT&T's long-standing support of the Launch Fishers High School Fellowship has enabled us to significantly expand the programming we could offer to Fishers-area students," said John Wechsler, Launch Fishers founder and CEO. "The company is a driver of innovation in Central Indiana and truly supportive of our local communities."

Launched in 2015, the Launch Fishers High School Fellowship annually accepts a group of entrepreneurial-minded students to participate in a week-long boot camp held at the Launch Fishers co-working space. Students learn from accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders during the boot camp portion of the program. Following the boot camp, students participate in interviews with host companies and are placed into summer internships.

"It's exciting to see this effort by Launch Fishers - and the support from AT&T - that will spark creativity and empower young people," said State Sen. Jim Merritt. "This fellowship program gives a tremendous boost to students' personal and career growth."

This marks the second time AT&T has awarded AT&T Aspire funding to the fellowship program, bringing its total contribution to $50,000 in 3 years.

"It's critical to support the next generation of innovators and support from private companies plays a vital role in shaping the lives of young adults in our community," said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. "Thanks to Launch Fishers and AT&T, we are better able to meet the needs and interests of area high school students, preparing them for the 21st century economy."

"Education is the best investment we can make to ensure our new hires start day one with the skills they need," said Bill Soards , AT&T Indiana president. "Through AT&T Aspire, we aim to help all students make their biggest dreams a reality."
