WESTFIELD - Westfield Washington School students return to class Wednesday.
Here are some things students and parents need to know:
School times for the 2017-18 school year are:
Elementary: 9:10 am - 3:42 pm
Intermediate & Middle School: 7:56 am - 2:45 pm
High School: 7:58 am - 2:49 pm
The district calendar for the school year can be found on the district website under the Parents tab. Remember that Flex Days (Jan. 15 and Feb. 26) are snow make up dates; do not schedule any activities for these dates as we may have school.
Please take a moment now to double check your bus route. Because of growth in the district, many routes have changed. We have engaged an outside vendor to ensure safety and efficiency. We also have new buses that have been added to our fleet to serve our students. Visit the district website, www.wws. k12.in.us, under Departments >Transportation to check out your child's route.
Get RockReady - Get the App!
Have you downloaded the new WWS app? It is free! Search "Westfield Washington Schools" in the Google Play or iTunes store!
School delays and closings
Occasionally we may be forced to delay or close schools because of inclement weather or emergencies such as a power outage. WWS uses the SchoolMessenger system to notify parents of delays and closing via phone and text as well as posts on social media as soon as decisions are made. Delay and closing information can also be found on the district's website, www.wws.k12.in.us.

New rotations for K-4 students
K-4 students will have changes to their rotations schedules. The five-day rotation will consist of art, music, PE, media center, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). STEM will focus on problem solving through the areas of computer science (coding, tech skills, robotics, Google Classroom), the engineering design process, and the 4 C's-collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity while extending math and science classroom instruction. The media centers will be directed by instructional assistants to allow the Innovation Specialists, formerly Media Specialists, the opportunity to support literacy, technology, and research in the classrooms.
New this year: Instructional Coaches
For the 2017-18 school year, WWS is excited to have an instructional coach in each elementary school and WIS. Instructional coaches will partner with staff members to create a focus on learning and growing to maximize student academic, social and emotional growth. We believe this will take our district to the next level!
ICYMI: Calendar survey
