A 25-year-old Noblesville man was injured while fleeing a police stop Monday morning.
Chase M. Ferguson wrecked his 2005 motorcycle at the roundabout at Hazel Dell Parkway and Main Street, Carmel, as he attempted to flee a traffic stop. He was injured and transported to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, in critical condtion.
The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. Monday, when a Noblesville Police officer witnessed Ferguson riding his motorcycle erratically on 146th Street, near Cherry Tree Road, Noblesville.
The office stated the motorcycle turned southbound on Hazel Dell Parkway and the officer was able to catch up to the suspect near Avian Way, Camel.
The officer said he activated his emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however Ferguson accelerated and fled on Hazel Dell.
A few moments later the officer advised the motorcycle crashed.
Officers and firefighters from Noblesville and Carmel police and fire departments arrived on the scene a short time later and began to investigate.
Investigators from the NPD Accident Reconstruction Unit were summons to the scene to collect evidence and gather information. As a result of the investigation, portions of the roundabout at Hazel Dell Parkway and Main Street were either restricted or closed until approximately 8:35 a.m.
