Carmel, Old Town announced $150 million Midtown project
The City of Carmel and Old Town Development LLC announced today details for the first major development in the Midtown area, an investment of up to $150 million that would bring more than seven new buildings on about 11 acres of land in the redevelopment areas south of Main Street.

Heights fundraiser today at softball complexes to benefit high school cafeteria manager
A fundraiser today will benefit Bob Leeman, Hamilton Heights High School cafeteria manager, who is going through chemotherapy. The money will help Leeman with his medical expenses.

The fundraiser is today at the softball complexes in Cicero and is being sponsored by Hamilton Heights Amateur Sports Association.

'The Voice" performs for the Millers
"This is Josh Kaufman. I'm at Noblesville High School, just hanging out with the Millers."

Those were the words of Season 6 winner of NBC's "The Voice," as Kaufman posed for photos in front of the high school with students Thursday following his concert there.

He put on a show, gave a couple of autographs, posed for a few photos and answered a lot of questions from the mostly high school-age audience members that filled the school's auditorium.

Bucket list
Friday was a good day for 83-year-old Roland Gibson.

The Noblesville resident got to spend the morning with Noblesville and Carmel Police motorcycle officers.

On Monday, resident Virginia "Bing" Brown, 93, took a pontoon boat ride on Morse Reservoir.

The opportunity came about when the Riverwalk Commons residents were asked to come up with a wish for their Bucket List, a new program at the Noblesville facility.

Chili cook-off raises $450
A special Noblesville Firefighters' chili cook-off fundraiser on Thursday -- in observance of 9/11 -- raised a $450 for the Hamilton County Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The memorial will be installed within the next two years on the Hamilton County Government & Judicial Center campus. The cook-off took place during the Noblesville Main Street Thursday Market. Firefighters used ingredients from the market. Mike Cook at Noblesville Fire Station No. 71 was the winner of the chili cook-off.

Festival of Machines comes to Conner Prairie
Going down the highway of life, Phil Gumpert drives a little faster than some.

How fast? "I'm not gonna tell you," said Gumper, 72, Noblesville, whose best day finds him in a vintage high-performance sports car tooling down a scenic highway.

He'll show two of his favorite vintage sports cars - a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT and a 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster - on Saturday and Sunday during the inaugural Festival of Machines at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers.

The Noblesville resident got her start in local theater as an accompanist for The Belfry Theatre's "1776" in 1987 in Noblesville. Then accompanied and music directed another show the next year.
