NHS tours, ribbon-cutting showcase $36M project
In a $36 million project that was started to accommodate an ever-growing population of students, Noblesville Schools on Wednesday afternoon cut the ribbon on a construction project that's been more than a year in the making.

All of the improvements, additions and renovations have added space to both Noblesville East Middle School and Noblesville High School.

At the middle school, there are 26 new classroom spaces that will accommodate sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders in addition to athletic renovations that will improve other middle school extracurricular activities.

But it's the high school, the 11th largest in the state, that's going to see the widest variety of changes and new features.

A completely new freshman center, main office complex and secured main entrance will be highlighted by nine new classrooms, a new and reorganized performing arts space and band room, and a multi-purpose athletic facility that includes practice basketball courts.

Lions start a veterans' dinner tradition
When Noblesville Lion David Marsh came up with the idea of having each club member invite a veteran in to share stories, he had no idea how great of a success the night would turn out to be.

"As the vice president, it's my job to get speakers," said Marsh, 76. "So, I had the whole calendar for meetings in front of me, and all of a sudden Nov. 12 jumps out, and I thought it would be a great opportunity."

Each Lion in attendance brought at least one guest who had served in the armed forces, and some members brought two.

Every veteran was honored with a certificate from the Lions Club thanking them for their service.

"This is the first try for this, and I hope everyone enjoys it," Marsh said. "I definitely think it's going to be an annual event for us."

At the Lions' first-time event, Wednesday night, the back room of the Jim Dandy Restaurant in Noblesville was filled with about 50 Lions and their veteran guests.
