|CARMEL-Legacy Fund, the Central Indiana Community Foundation affiliate serving Hamilton County, has named Brittany Rayburn as its director of development, a new position for the foundation.|
In her new role, Rayburn will cultivate new and existing relationships with donors and professional advisors in Hamilton County.

|CARMEL - The Carmel Green Initiative has partnered with Carmel and other communities in Hamilton County to co-host the Solarize Hamilton County 2017 Campaign.|
The goal of this community education program is to increase understanding of solar investments, simplify the solar installation process, enable access to program discounts and advance as many solar installations as possible before the end of the year.

|CARMEL - Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation will play host to its annual Preschool Splash Bash, an event designed for young children and their parents, at The Waterpark 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16.|
Admission is $6 per child. Adults attending with their children will be admitted free.

|'Jake' Laird Day, National Night Out fill Quaker Park|
WESTFIELD - Westfield had its annual Jake Laird Community Day Tuesday at Quaker Park.|
Sponsored by Hamilton county residents Mike and Debbie Laird, the event celebrates the life of Officer Timothy "Jake" Laird of the Indianapolis Police Department, who gave his life in the line of duty on Aug. 18, 2004.

|Fire destroys Cicero home|
|CICERO - Fire destroyed a Cicero home Monday, and damaged two neighboring homes.|
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, reported at 7:20 p.m.
The occupants were not at home when the fire started, but called the Cicero Fire Department when they returned to the residence, at 1209 Frogs Leap.

|CICERO - Hamilton North Public Library wants to see how Hamilton County residents "Picture a Better World."|
The Library and Friends of the Library organization are sponsoring a photo contest for Hamilton County residents, encouraging them to get out their cameras and capture potential award-winning photographs.
"Picture a Better World," is this year's theme for the library's annual competition features three divisions for entering and prizes in all categories.

|Paws for a Cause 5K run to benefit HSFHC|
|The Humane Society for Hamilton County and Tito's Handmade Vodka have partnered together to sponsor the Indiana inaugural Paws for a Cause 5K Run 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.|
All net proceeds from the event will benefit the Humane Society for Hamilton County and its no-kill mission. Tito's Vodka is including a special bonus by generously matching proceeds raised up to $2,500.
