One Day-Sheridan-No Hunger
SHERIDAN - On Saturday the Sheridan Rotary Club, in cooperation with multiple other community agencies and churches, is coordinating a free meal to members of the Sheridan community

The meal will be served at the Shelter House in Community Park from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone in the Sheridan community is invited to enjoy roast pork loin, baked potato, green beans, roll with butter and a dessert. Drinks will be provided, too.

Longtime Conner Prairie interpreter honored
FISHERS - For more than three decades, Eddie Grogan has served as one of the most knowledgeable and personable interpreters of Indiana's history.

For this reason, the Indiana Historical Society (IHS) proudly names Grogan a recipient of the 2017 Dorothy Riker Hoosier Historian Award. The award recognizes historians who have made distinguished contributions to the field of historical scholarship, including presentation and preservation, or the affairs and activities of IHS.

Westfield, Fishers named Green Communities of the Year
WESTFIELD - Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) named Westfield and Fishers Green Community of the Year. The cities received their awards during the Aim Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Oct. 11, during the 2017 Aim Ideas Summit in Evansville.

Annual Ryan White Aids Walk raises more than $2,200
ARCADIA - This year's Ryan White Aids Walk at Hamilton Heights High School raised more than $2,200 for the Ryan White Scholarship Fund.

Students and staff pay $1 to walk around the high school track during one class period in White's honor.

Tech firm growing in Hamilton County
CARMEL - CleanSlate Technology Group, a cloud consulting and software asset management company, announced its plans to expand its operations in Hamilton County, creating up to 50 new jobs by 2020.

"Innovation is alive and well in Indiana. Today, the Hoosier state is home to countless technology success stories like CleanSlate that are helping the state garner national recognition as a leader in innovation," said Jim Schellinger, Indiana secretary of commerce.

Heights community blood drive collects 57 units for IBC
ARCADIA - Hamilton Heights High School community blood drive on Thursday resulted in 57 pints of blood registered by some 64 students, faculty, staff and members of the community who stopped in to give of themselves for a worthwhile cause. Each donation will result in multiple usable components for people in Indiana and beyond.

Cicero names new police chief
CICERO - Maj. Jim Hunter will be named Cicero Police Chief upon the planned retirement of Chief Dave Hildebrand in April 2018.

Hunter has been with the department since 1988 and has been Assistant Chief since 2008.

Headless Horseman rides again at Conner Prairie
FISHERS - The Headless Horseman rides again at Conner Prairie for 11 straight nights in October.

Sponsored by Reynolds Farm Equipment, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent and Kroger, Headless Horseman runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 12-15, 19-22 and 26-29.

Heights sponsoring community blood drive for Las Vegas shooting victims
ARCADIA - Hamilton Heights High School is sponsoring a community blood drive 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, at school auditorium, 25802 Ind. 19.

"This blood drive is extremely important because some of the blood and plasma will be shipped to Las Vegas to help some of the recent mass shooting victims in need," said Dep. Brad Osswald, Hamilton Heights School resource officer. "There are over 500 victims injured and in desperate need of blood. Please consider donating on Thursday."

Kiwanis raise $3,200 for Riley
CICERO - The Kiwanis Club of Cicero conducted it Roadblock for Riley Hospital, Sept. 23.

Members volunteered to man several intersections to collect money for Riley Hospital for Children.

The club raised more than $3,200. All money collected is donated to support the efforts of the hospital.
