Students Hamilton County can take part in the scholarship program that is being offered by a1autotransport.com. Those students that are interested in getting a scholarship to help pay for the costs of their schooling can apply to get the financial aid that is offered through A-1 Auto Transport in this program it developed in 2016.

Adams Elementary becoming apartments
SHERIDAN - The Woda Group, Inc. and Housing Services Alliance, Inc. (HSA) will redevelop the historic Adams Elementary School in Sheridan, transforming the vacant property into 32 affordable apartments and renovating its gym to become community recreation space. Construction of Blackhawk Commons could begin as soon as July 2018.

The circus is coming to Sheridan
SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Kiwanis Club is entering the planning stage of their undertaking to bring the Cullpepper & Merriweather Circus to Sheridan for the entertainment and enjoyment of all.

The circus will be in town May 24 and tickets will be available from any Kiwanis member. In addition to Kiwanis members, the club is hoping to have several other volunteers from the community roll up their sleeves and help out.

Schools may be impacted by weather
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Central Indiana until Saturday. There is a possibility of 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet accumulation.

Every school in Hamilton County has a policy about what to do with winter weather conditions. Noblesville, Hamilton Heights, Sheridan, and Westfield Washington schools all have a weather and cancellation section on their websites.

Fire damages Sheridan home
SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Fire Department responded to a fire that damaged a single-family residence, 1106 S. Opel Ave., Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. and found house trailer to be damaged by fire.

A Main Street Retrospective
SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Historical Society has scheduled a special program for the public on 7 p.m. Monday in the Community Room of the Sheridan Public Library.

Many people are already aware that the Society has recently purchased the old Hippodrome Theater Building across the street from the current museum and is busy converting it into the new museum.

Cicero Police nab burglar
CICERO - A 36 year old Cicero man was arrested by Cicero Police, following a brief standoff in a vacant house.

Wesley Collier is charged with one count of burglary and two counts of theft.

The charges stem from the burglary of a Cicero home.

During their investigation, police were led to a vacant residence, where they found an open door and heard someone inside.

Save the Nickel Plate blasts ITM lease decision
Save the Nickel Plate organizers are "very disappointed" but not surprised at Noblesville's decision not to renew the Indiana Transportation Museum's lease at Forest Park.

In a statement released Thursday, Save the Nickel Plate spokesman Logan Day said the city's decision is politically motivated.

Cicero council discontinues ALS service to township
CICERO - The Cicero Town Council unanimously voted against extending the agreement for providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to White River Township during its meeting Tuesday.

The members of the council said continuing to provide these services was placing too great of a financial and logistical strain on the Cicero Fire Department.

Two hurt in serious crash
SHERIDAN - Two people sustained serious injuries during a crash on Ind. 38 east of 226th Street, near Sheridan, shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

One of the first responders on the scene was Indiana State Police Superintendent and former Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter.

Callers reporting the incident told dispatchers the crash left victims trapped with a vehicle on fire.

SHERIDAN -The Sheridan Historical Society has purchased a new museum site at 315 S. Main St., and is remodeling the site for its collections and genealogy services that will provide more than twice its present space for heritage exhibits and family archive services.

ARCADIA - Little do most people know, Hamilton Heights High School of Arcadia, is home to an entirely student-led enterprise known as the Husky Fan Shop.

This is surprising and impressive considering the size of Hamilton Heights, but it's made possible by the new and improved business lounge.

SHERIDAN - Sheridan Rotary Club members welcomed the new Sheridan Community School superintendent to a recent meeting.

Dr. Doug Miller took over the reins of the school a few months back and used this opportunity to tell the club members about his background and his educational philosophy.

Choirs entertain chamber
Hamilton heights High School Choir Director Jennifer Boone joined her students to entertain those attending the Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce holiday luncheon, Thursday. The Sheridan High School choir also performed for chamber members. During the luncheon chamber members participated in an auction to raise money for The Youth Assistance Program at Sheridan and Hamilton Heights high schools, and Sacred Family Charity of Hamilton County.

Library, school to bring 'Frankenstein' to life
INDIANAPOLIS - The Hamilton North Public Library, Cicero, and Carmel High School, have received funding to help bring "Frankenstein" to life in their community and participate in a statewide read of the book in 2018.

The grants are part of the year-long One State / One Story: Frankenstein program initiated by Indiana Humanities and in partnership with the Indiana State Library and Center for the Book.

Charitable giving
To fulfill part of its mandate to support charitable giving in the local community, every year at this time the members of the Sheridan Rotary Club provide food boxes to MAMA's Cupboard, a Sheridan food pantry organization. This year the club gave 20 boxes and pictured above are the Rotarians, family members and friends who came together to pack the boxes on Tuesday evening, November 28 at the library. Getting ready for Santa
Sheridan Public Library director Steve Martin is pictured putting the finishing touches on the annual library book tree in preparation for the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. Saturday. Saint Nick wants all the children to come and tell him what they want from him for Christmas. This will also be a time for parents to take pictures of their children with the Jolly Old Elf, or the library can provide a picture for $1. In addition to a visit with Santa and his wife, parents and children are invited to share some Christmas punch and cookies and the children will be able to complete a Christmas coloring sheet. And once again this year, back by popular demand, Lisa Snethen and her children will be entertaining all with live Christmas music. The library is located at 103 West First St., in beautiful uptown Sheridan, just on the country side of Hamilton County, Indiana. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Coach arrested for misconduct with minor
ARCADIA - A 34-year-old Noblesville man has been arrested, and charged with, 27 counts, including Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

Johel E. Ramirez Suarez, a coach at RipFest Diving, 108 S. Olive St., Arcadia, is charged with five counts each of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, and Child Seduction, both felonies, and 17 counts of Battery, a misdemeanor.

He was arrested Tuesday by the Hamilton County Metro Child Exploitation Task Force.
