Choirs entertain chamber
Hamilton heights High School Choir Director Jennifer Boone joined her students to entertain those attending the Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce holiday luncheon, Thursday. The Sheridan High School choir also performed for chamber members. During the luncheon chamber members participated in an auction to raise money for The Youth Assistance Program at Sheridan and Hamilton Heights high schools, and Sacred Family Charity of Hamilton County.

Library, school to bring 'Frankenstein' to life
INDIANAPOLIS - The Hamilton North Public Library, Cicero, and Carmel High School, have received funding to help bring "Frankenstein" to life in their community and participate in a statewide read of the book in 2018.

The grants are part of the year-long One State / One Story: Frankenstein program initiated by Indiana Humanities and in partnership with the Indiana State Library and Center for the Book.

Charitable giving
To fulfill part of its mandate to support charitable giving in the local community, every year at this time the members of the Sheridan Rotary Club provide food boxes to MAMA's Cupboard, a Sheridan food pantry organization. This year the club gave 20 boxes and pictured above are the Rotarians, family members and friends who came together to pack the boxes on Tuesday evening, November 28 at the library. Pictured, left to right, are Connie Pearson, Clifford Biddle, Kari Lee, Dale McCullough, Glenn Hunsucker, Katherine McCullough, Suzy McCullough, Beth Lee, Scott McCullough, Fred Sturdevant, Shane Lee, and Steve Martin.

Getting ready for Santa
Sheridan Public Library director Steve Martin is pictured putting the finishing touches on the annual library book tree in preparation for the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. Saturday. Saint Nick wants all the children to come and tell him what they want from him for Christmas. This will also be a time for parents to take pictures of their children with the Jolly Old Elf, or the library can provide a picture for $1. In addition to a visit with Santa and his wife, parents and children are invited to share some Christmas punch and cookies and the children will be able to complete a Christmas coloring sheet. And once again this year, back by popular demand, Lisa Snethen and her children will be entertaining all with live Christmas music. The library is located at 103 West First St., in beautiful uptown Sheridan, just on the country side of Hamilton County, Indiana. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Coach arrested for misconduct with minor
ARCADIA - A 34-year-old Noblesville man has been arrested, and charged with, 27 counts, including Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

Johel E. Ramirez Suarez, a coach at RipFest Diving, 108 S. Olive St., Arcadia, is charged with five counts each of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, and Child Seduction, both felonies, and 17 counts of Battery, a misdemeanor.

He was arrested Tuesday by the Hamilton County Metro Child Exploitation Task Force.

Breakfast with Santa Set for Dec. 9 in Cicero
Santa and his Elves are looking forward to meeting with children for breakfast at Red Bridge Community Park Building in Cicero Saturday morning Dec. 9. The local Phi Beta Psi Sorority will host its annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9 at the Red Bridge Park Community Building in Cicero. There will be two sessions to visit with Santa and his Elves: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children will have breakfast, write a wish list for Santa, make a craft and/or listen to a story while waiting for their special visit with Santa. Tickets are $5. For tickets or to reserve tickets for this annual holiday tradition call Chris at 317-984-5269, leave a message if necessary. There are a limited number of tickets available, pre-sale are ticket reservations are recommended.

Cicero master plan workshop scheduled
CICERO - The public is welcome and invited to attend a public workshop to identify and discuss priorities for the Cicero Municipal Buildings Master Plan.

The Town's Planning Consultant, Strategic Planning Studio, and the Cicero Steering Committee members will be in attendance to address questions, concerns, and receive input on the plan.

Cicero Christmas Parade Set for Dec. 2
CICERO - The Town of Cicero has scheduled its annual Christmas Parade for 1 p.m. Dec. 2.

The annual community event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cicero and Cicero Christian Church.

Parade attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to help make Christmas a little brighter for children in the communities of Arcadia, Atlanta and Cicero who may not otherwise have much under their tree.

Help fill the Red Stocking
The 12th annual Red Stocking Fund campaign begins this week, just as the last of the money raised in 2016 has been used by the Noblesville Township Trustees Office.

In 2016, just more than $15,000 was raised, for the third consecutive year, to be used throughout this year for the students of the Noblesville community who are less fortunate.

SHERIDAN - For 5 years now several organizations in the Sheridan community have come together to work with the God Samaritan Network of Hamilton County to provide community members with a FREE Thanksgiving Day meal. The meal is being served at the Community Center and serving time is 11 am to 2 pm.

Local veterans honored by Kiwanis Club of Cicero
CICERO - The Kiwanis Club of Cicero honored local veterans with a special breakfast and program last Saturday at the United Family Wesleyan Church in Cicero.

Members of the Cicero Kiwanis in cooperation with students involved in Hamilton Heights Key, Builders and K-Kids Clubs along with their sponsors also helped throughout the breakfast.

Crowdfunding campaign started for the Cicero launch
CICERO - Residents and visitors in Cicero will soon be able to enjoy the Morse Reservoir in a new way, thanks to acrowdfunding campaign for an accessible canoe and kayak launch.

The campaign, sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and offered through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity, is managed by the Town of Cicero.

HHHS Key Club celebrates decade of service
ARCADIA - Members of the Hamilton Heights High School's Key Club celebrated community service with members from across the nation during Key Club Week, held every first full week in November.

This year also marks the 10th year that the Heights' Key Club has been making a difference in the community.

The Heights club was formed in 2007 and has 95 members.

Key Club is an international, student-led organization that offers its members opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. It is the largest high school service organization in the world with hundreds of chapters in 38 countries.

The lead roles are played by seniors Madelyn Merrell and Leigh Anne Reuter, and the stage manager is senior Amelia Ringer.

Heights teachers vote to ratify two-year contact
ARCADIA - The Board of School Trustees of the Hamilton Heights School Corporation and the Hamilton Heights Classroom Teachers Association ratified the 2017-2019 teacher's contract and it was approved unanimously by the Board of School Trustees.

Changes to the payroll occurred on Oct. 27 with retro pay back to the beginning of the school year or July 1 for those year-round employees.

Bazaar, soup supper set at Arcadia Brethren
ARCADIA - The community is invited to attend the Arcadia Brethren Church's Holiday Bazaar & Soup Supper.

This year's Holiday Bazaar is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, at the church, 8989 E. 266th St., Arcadia. The bazaar will feature handcrafted gifts, holiday items and a bake sale.

Cicero Kiwanis to honor local veterans with breakfast
CICERO - The Kiwanis Club of Cicero will honor local veterans with a special breakfast and program on 8:30 a.m., Nov. 11, at the United Family Wesleyan Church, 210 Washington Ave.

The breakfast will be followed by a special program featuring Ret. Brig. Gen. Don Canaday, a WWII veteran and past president of Kiwanis International.

Cicero Kiwanis set Angel Tree roadblock
CICERO - The Cicero Kiwanis Club has scheduled its annual Angel Tree Roadblock at the corner of Jackson Street and Ind. 19 and at Main and Brinton Streets in Cicero from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4.

Members of the Cicero Kiwanis Club and Hamilton Heights High School Key Club will be at those locations to accept donations. All money collected is distributed to Hamilton Heights Schools to purchase clothing and a toy for children of local families who are struggling.

SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Public Library is weeding a lot of its reference books and offering them for sale to the public. The sale items include general knowledge encyclopedia sets by World Book, Americana, and Britannica, specialty encyclopedia sets, biographic works, dictionaries, atlases, fact books, science and health works.

Cicero Fall Festival set for Oct. 28
CICERO - A pair of parades, vendor booths, food and treats are on tap Oct. 28, at third annual Cicero Fall Festival.

The event is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. at Cicero Community Park.

Those attending may visit vendor booths where local businesses will have games and activities for kids, and hand out prizes and candy.

ARCADIA - The greater Northern Hamilton County community is invited to attend a special Open House and Ribbon Cutting ceremony 5 p.m. Oct. at Hamilton Heights High School.

Construction projects transformed the business, agricultural, engineering, band and choir areas into 21st Century learning environments.

One Day-Sheridan-No Hunger
SHERIDAN - On Saturday the Sheridan Rotary Club, in cooperation with multiple other community agencies and churches, is coordinating a free meal to members of the Sheridan community

The meal will be served at the Shelter House in Community Park from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone in the Sheridan community is invited to enjoy roast pork loin, baked potato, green beans, roll with butter and a dessert. Drinks will be provided, too.

SHERIDAN - Sheridan would like to add welcome signs to the entry ways of town, and is sponsoring a contest to find a design.

The welcome sign design will become the property of the Town of Sheridan. The sign will inform and celebrate the Town of Sheridan by being decorative, informative and provide a visual identity for the town.
