WPD trains staff on special events incident management
WESTFIELD - The Westfield Police Department played host to the Sports and Special Events Incident Management Course for city employees at the Grand Park Events Center on Dec. 12 and 13.

Westfield named one of Indiana's safest cities
WESTFIELD - Westfield was recognized as the third safest city in the state by SafeHome.

Carmel was picked as the safest city, and Fishers was second.

Westfield YAP collecting board games
WESTFIELD - The Westfield Youth Assistance Program is collecting board games to donate to local families.

Its goal is to collect 92 board games, mostly for children in the first through eighth grades.

Alexander announces candidacy for Hamilton County Council
WESTFIELD - Ken Alexander, Westfield, will run for Hamilton County Council, District 4, covering Westfield, Sheridan, and western Carmel.

Alexander is currently the Vice President of Sales at Fishers-based the Hagerman Group and was previously the Director of Grand Park in Westfield.

Westfield native named 2018 Orr Fellow
WESTFIELD - Indiana Wesleyan University senior and Westfield native Tanner Brumbarger has been named a 2017 Orr Fellow.

The Orr Entrepreneurial Fellowship is a program that selects top seniors from institutions in Indiana and Ohio for a two-year fellowship and career placement at a variety of growing companies in Indianapolis. With more than 1,000 applicants every year, the fellowship is a highly competitive post-grad experience with an average acceptance rate of only 6 percent.

Westfield In Lights set for Saturday
WESTFIELD - Downtown Westfield comes alive with holiday magic this Saturday as Westfield in Lights comes to town.

This year's event features live reindeer, food and retail vendors, wagon rides, carriage rides, train rides, live music, Girl Scout gingerbread house competition and the popular tree-lighting ceremony.

Westfield residents make commitment as a Providence Associate
Westfield residents Deanna and John Schleeter recently deepened their relationship with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Indiana.

On Nov. 18, both Deanna and John made commitments as Providence Associates, joining 20 other 2017 associates with the Sisters of Providence during the rite of commitment ceremony.

Westfield to transform sewage lagoon into wildlife habitat
WESTFIELD - The city of Westfield is taking the necessary steps to clean-up the sewage lagoon site located directly behind the Westfield City Services campus along the Midland Trail.

"Once it was determined the lagoon would be taken out of service, the city started to plan how to safely remove the sludge and remediate the lagoons," said Jeremy Lollar, Public Works director.

WPD to play host to Coffee with a Cop
WESTFIELD - Westfield residents will have an opportunity to meet with WPD officers one-on-one in a casual setting at Coffee with a Cop, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 29, at Lincoln Square Pancake House, 3186 E. Ind. 32.

Citizens are encouraged to discuss community issues and build relationships with the city's police officers.
