Westfield named one of Indiana's safest cities
WESTFIELD - Westfield was recognized as the third safest city in the state by SafeHome.

Carmel was picked as the safest city, and Fishers was second.

Suarez to focus on building Conner Prairie's international footprint
FISHERS - Susana Suarez has been named vice president-chief marketing officer at Conner Prairie.

Suarez will be tasked with building the museum's global footprint and guide marketing, communications and community engagement initiatives.

She joins the museum as a member of Gov. Eric Holcomb's senior executive team, having served in several positions, including executive director of Holcomb's strategic communications and the administration's Neuro-Diagnostic Institute and Advanced Treatment Center, a division of Indiana's Family and Social Services Administration.

HCSD to 'Shop for Kids' Saturday
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office annual Shop for Kids event - similar to "Shop with a Cop" - is scheduled for Saturday.

This year, members of the Sheriff's Office will play host to 51 less-fortunate area youth, ranging in age from 2 to teenagers, on a holiday shopping trip to the Target store in Fishers.

Fishers wraps up a record year for economic growth
FISHERS - The City of Fishers announced a record year for economic development with 2,185 new jobs and $64.5 million in capital investment committed by firms in 2017.

The announcement culminates with several Fishers-based companies announcing growth plans in the tech and engineering industries, creating 511 new jobs through 2021.

Controlled burn to assist habitat restoration at Krauss Nature Preserve in Fishers
FISHERS - The Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI) will conduct a controlled burn on approximately 28 acres of the Nonie Werbe Krauss Nature Preserve on Dec. 4, weather permitting. The preserve is located at the southwest corner of 116th Street and Eller Road in Fishers.

Controlled burning is used for resource management in natural areas to help restore habitats, control invasive species and benefit wildlife.

Exhibit explores what arts facility in Fishers could look like
FISHERS - The Fishers Arts Council is sponsoring a one-day show, "The Art of Design: An exhibit by Ball State University architecture students," as a way to explore varying ideas and concepts of a performing and visual arts facility.

The exhibit will be from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Wednesday at Meyer Najem, 11787 Lantern Road. The event is free.

FISHERS - Conner Prairie, one of the nation's most visited outdoor museums, is currently accepting applications for its youth volunteer program for 2018.

The program teaches youth ages 10-18 personal development skills in a hands-on, immersive and fun environment.

Frosty fun transforms Nickel Plate District
FISHERS - The City of Fishers invites the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season during Fishers' Winter Wonderland 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The free event, presented by Fishers Parks & Recreation, features family-friendly winter fun on the Central Green, the new home for this year's annual city light display.
