Oh Christmas Tree, what's on your branches?
So it's 8:30ish and I'm running a little late to work. I grab my purse, my tote, my iPad my coat, my phone and my...where's my keys?
For the next hour I search up, down, under, over, on and in.
I look in my purse, where someone could win a scavenger hunt without looking anywhere else. Camera, wallet, umbrella, mascara, 3 lipsticks, keys to my office, 3 prescription bottles, batteries, coupons, a Christmas CD, handicapped placard for my Mom and a phone charger...But no keys.
Ok, in the closet. In the trash. In the washer where I had just thrown some towels. Under every piece of furniture in the house.
I even look outside to see if I left them in the lock when I came in from work the night before. (Not that I have ever done that before)
No keys Nowhere.
I try to retrace my steps from the night before. I USUALLY drop them in the little rocking chair beside my purse.
They had disappeared, so I find the extra set and lean over to turn off the lights on the Christmas tree. No I did not fall into it again.
There hanging from a branch just like a tree ornament...my keys.
I'm then thinking...how in the world?
I remember grabbing the mail as I came into the house and walking over to the Christmas tree and leaning over to turn the tree lights on...that's it! I must have laid the keys on the stack on mail in my arms and when I leaned over to plug in the lights they must have slid out onto the tree. And what are the chances that they would catch on a limb? About the same as me winning the gazillion dollar lottery. But oh no I win the go out on a limb and find the keys lottery.
We all lose things. We misplace things. We can get frazzled and frustrated or we can have a sense of humor. Now that is one thing I never want to lose. Laughter is the best medicine, even for frustrations. Well that, and a good friend to laugh with you!
