It's been a relaxing and fun two-week Winter Break. But we're ready for Noblesville Schools to start up classes again on Tuesday.

My daughter is ready to see her friends again at school, although we've had some play dates over Winter Break.

While we've been busy every day, we've also caught up on our sleep. On any mornings that we didn't have to be anywhere, we slept in until noon. That was nice because, oftentimes, I stay up writing my columns, or posting on Facebook, into the night.

During Winter Break, we did some shopping in Downtown Noblesville, consumed a few cups of hot chocolate at Noble Coffee & Tea on the Square and walked around and looked at store windows.

We spent the holidays visiting all of the grandparents and relatives. We read Christmas cards and letters, made gingerbread cookies and listened to carols played by my daughter, who started piano lessons in August from Noblesville's Elaine Wagner.

In tradition, we visited Conner Prairie in Fishers to experience the Outdoor Adventure, which led us to the delicious smells of yeast rolls at the William Conner house, the sounds of the "Rowdies" singing an old English wassail song and Mrs. Zimmerman's advice on cooking dinner over an open fire at the Golden Eagle Inn.

We also always visited Conner Prairie's Gingerbread Village display, which brings memories of when I joined my fellow Noblesville Ledger coworkers in creating our own gingerbread house, including one year creating an entry that resembled our former newspaper office.

Saturday night, we accepted an invitation to attend the Indiana Pacers-New York Knicks '80s Decades game with retired Pacemate Roseanna (Thompson) Head of Noblesville. We chatted with the Wright Brothers' John McDowell before they went on to sing The National Anthem at the game, I snapped a photo of Roseanna with retired ABA Pacer Darnell "Dr. Dunk" Hillman, and we watched the game from the Krieg DeVault Club Level, where we enjoyed in-seat waitress service.

Yes, we've had a great Winter Break. Today, the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville is open 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the Community Center open noon to 3 p.m. and regular after-school hours beginning on Tuesday at the Club. We're also getting ready for tonight's kickoff of our first game of the Boys & Girls Club Winter Basketball League. (By the way, The Times is sponsoring a team again this year.)

On Wednesday, Noblesville Parks' new Lego League, for ages 6-11, kicks off, with the focus on imaginative thinking and teamwork.

In just a week, school will be off again for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Jan. 16.

And later this month, Noblesville Schools' public information sessions begin on Jan. 24, sharing with parents the possible boundary changes for Promise Road, Stony Creek and North elementaries for the next school year.
