The first half left a lot up for question in the Noblesville versus Pendleton Heights game Wednesday. The second half did not.

The Arabians crumbled to Noblesville's powerful offense and quick defense as the Millers soared to a 72-55 victory.

Pendleton Heights did not look the same after halftime. The decisive shooting, the four '3's and the steady defense in the first half was replaced by a tired team trying to keep up with the Millers' deep bench.

"I thought we just wore them out, honestly," Miller head coach Donna Buckley said. "Our bench gave us a nice lift and that was the difference in the game."

In fact, the Arabians had a five-point lead after the first quarter and an eight-point lead at one point in the second. The teams went to the locker rooms with Pendleton Heights in the lead, 31-29.

Noblesville forced six turnovers in the first three and a half minutes of the half, while they spread out the offense and did what they did best. The Arabians just could not keep up with the quick passes, inside play of Emily Kiser and steady drives of Maddie Knight and Mallory Johnson. Olivia Morales also added some spark off the bench with six points.

After four straight Miller baskets, Kiser guided the team from a 37-31 lead to a 45-35 lead. She finished with a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds.

"Every time you walk on the floor, you have 20 points and 10 to 15 rebounds from her - and she's capable of 30 to 40 points," Buckley said. "It's nice to know when we walk on the floor that we have that. She's a pretty special player."

Knight and Johnson were a crucial part of the second half as well, each ending in double digits at 16 and 13, respectively.

"Their athleticism and ability to get up and down the floor is part of what got Pendleton so exhausted," Buckley added. "Maddie [Knight] and Mallory [Johnson] are both tremendous athletes."

Johnson led the team with four steals, while Knight, Kiser and Sam Salmon each had three.

This was Salmon and Brooke Herron's last game in the Noblesville gym as the only two seniors. The team has seen a pretty dramatic change since their first home game against Lawrence North.

"We've come a long way," Buckley said of her team. "We were 4-6 after the first 10 games and are 8-3 in the last 11 games. We are playing well. We had to grow up and figure out who we were."

They gave Pendleton Heights their fourth loss of the season and finish at a 12-9 record before they head to sectionals. Noblesville faces the winner of the Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield game next Friday in Sectional 8.
