GIRLS BASKETBALL: Kiser's double-double not enough against HSE

FISHERS - Turnovers plagued the Noblesville Millers girls basketball team in their Sectional 8 semi-final game against No. 7 state-ranked Hamilton Southeastern Friday. HSE came away with the win 60-34.

"We didn't play well tonight but a lot that was a result of how talented, long and athletic HSE is as a team," Miller head coach Donna Buckley said.

The Royals finished with 12 steals, led by Sydney Parrish who had four of them. In fact, she single-handedly guided the team to victory, also leading them in points and rebounds, and tying for three assists. The 6-1 freshman is averaging 16 points a game and finished with 21 along with nine rebounds.

However, the Royal offense spread the attack with eight other girls scoring as well. Bre Lloyd tacked on 12 points.

Their offense ran away with a 14-3 sprint in the first quarter and Noblesville couldn't recover, despite Emily Kiser's shining play. Kiser used the inside attack to baffle HSE and help Noblesville fight the next three quarters. She finished with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds.

"Emily was really good tonight," Buckley said. "Despite constant double and triple teams, she played very well."

Noblesville finishes their season with a 12-10 record after starting the season 4-6.

"We came a long way this season. We had a young team that really grew up this season. We are excited about the future."

This was seniors Brooke Herron and Sam Salmon's last game with Noblesville.

"I'm very proud of our two seniors who were great leaders for this young group," Buckley said.

HSE (19-5) will play No. 4 Carmel in the Sectional 8 championship tonight.
