BOYS SWIMMING: University 10th at swimming sectional

INDIANAPOLIS - Over a two day sectional meet, the University High School TrailBlazers set many records, both personal and team to ultimately come in 10th place at Lawrence North.

On Thursday, the team of Charles Earle, Cole Reinholt, Brody Davison, and Cordell Wilson broke the school record in the 200 Medley Relay to snatch a spot in the A Final on Saturday. When they reunited on Saturday, they dropped the record down to 1:52.94 for a 7th place finish.

Davison qualified for the A Final in the 200 and 500 freestyles. On Thursday, he went a team and personal record breaking time of 1:49.48; while he did not drop any additional time on Saturday, he still came in 6th place. In the 500, Davison went a season best in on Thursday-- 5:02.00-- and added slightly on Saturday for an 8th place finish.

Reinholt was the only other Blazer to qualify in two individual events. In the 200 IM, he dropped 8 seconds on Thursday and an additional second on Saturday to settle at 2:23.01 and 15th place. In the 100 breaststroke, Reinholt dropped nearly 6 seconds on Thursday and again an additional second on Saturday, settling at 1:06.59, 10th place, and a new team record.

The final individual final swim was from Earle, who dropped 5 seconds on Thursday in the 100 backstroke for an impressive new team record time of 1:05.66 and added just slightly on Saturday to grab 15th place.

On Thursday, the 200 free relay was handled by Max Ammerman, Kevin Shen, Zach Daniels, and Ian Weiker who got the boys into finals. The final relay was Earle, Wilson, Shen, and Ammerman who came in 11th place. Wilson had a season-best split of 26.90 in that relay.

The final relay was handled by Davison, Wilson, Earle, and Reinholt, The boys had fantastic swims on Thursday, beating their own record by 14 seconds (new record: 3:51.42) with best splits from all (Davison- 51.59, Wilson- 1:01.89, Earle- 58.84, Reinholt- 59.10). All boys were close to those splits on Saturday and came in 10th place.

Although they did not final, there were other best swims on Thursday evening. Ammerman dropped 7 seconds in the 200 free (2:35.70) and 2 in the 100 free (1:09.49). Christian Moore dropped 3.5 seconds in the 50 free (40.08) and 9 in the 100 back (1:55.70). Shen dropped a bit of time in his 50 freestyle (31.12), and Daniels dropped 6 seconds in his 100 free (1:12.47).
