SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Boys Basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start and fell to Frankton 73-40 Friday night.
The loss dropped the Blackhawks to 9-14 on the season.
Frankton jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead, and pounced for 24 second quarter points to take a 39-19 halftime lead.
Frankton outscored Sheridan 17-14 in the third quarter, and limited the Blackhawks to just 7 fourth quarter points.
"We didn't match their toughness. They pressured us and sped us up and forced us into too many bad decisions," said Sheridan coach Chris Schrank. "We needed to play the game at a slower pace, and we were unable to make that happen. It's a lesson for us though. Even though it is the last game of the regular season, we are still learning and hopefully it will make us better for the sectional next week."
Nick Burnell led Sheridan with 14 points. He hit 7 of 8 field goal attempts, grabbed four rebounds and had three steals.
Sean Weitzel added 11 points and Aidan Roaten added 10 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
"Sean Weitzel played well. Attacked the basket and made some nice plays offensively. Nick Burnell finished well around the rim and rebounded well. Aidan Roaten was solid as well," Schrank said.
The Blackhawks head into the IHSAA Class 2A Lapel Sectional play at 6 p.m. Friday, taking on the winner of the Lapel- Wapahani winner.
