Staring at the possibility of losing a fourth straight game heading into sectionals, the Noblesville Millers needed a win badly.

On Friday on Senior Night at The Mill, Noblesville (11-12) got that needed win beating the Lebanon Tigers (12-12) soundly, 57-46.

"It's huge to get some momentum," head coach Brian McCauley said after the game. "Last week was a rough week for us. We played very well in stretches but weren't quite able to finish. So I was proud of our ability to finish tonight and to gain some momentum heading into next week."

The Millers got off to a strong start leading by 11 after the first quarter and by 12 at the break. McCauley was pleased with his team's performance in the opening quarters.

"We really played a tremendous first half," McCauley said after the game. "I thought offensively we were moving the basketball really well. We took great care of the ball and took great shots."

One of the keys to the game overall was the turnover battle. The Millers only turned the ball over five times compared to 16 Lebanon turnovers.

"If you can keep your turnovers to about one per quarter - that's great basketball offensively," McCauley said.

Noblesville defenders had active hands all night. Senior McGwire Plumer led the way defensively with six steals. McCauley thought it was one of Plumer's best games of the season.

"Plumer was dialed in tonight," McCauley said. "He was focused. I thought he was active in our defense. He was in the right position. He was assertive. He got his hands on a lot of basketballs."

Plumer also had a productive night offensively finishing with 11 points. A number of other Miller seniors also had strong showings in their final home game. Max Flinchum led the way scoring with 17. Rico Duncan and Nolan Ginther also finished in double figures with 10 points each.

The other two seniors honored on the night were Nick Mills and Corby Mertens. Mills made a free throw to get onto the score sheet. Mertens is sidelined for the season with a broken leg.

The Millers next play Guerin Catholic at Carmel High School on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of sectionals.
