LEBANON - The No. 2-ranked Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball team (1-0/0-0) opened up the 2017 season with a 2-0 victory at Lebanon.

Four Tiger pitchers, Ryan Metz, Luke Duermit, Luke Albright, and Taylor Soper, combined on a 1-hit shutout while striking out 12.

Metz, Duermit, and Albright each pitched 2 innings with Duermit (1-0) picking up the win, while Soper worked the 7th inning for his 1st save of the season.

Albright led the way with 5 strikeouts, Duermit 4, Metz 2, and Soper 1. The Tiger pitchers only faced 22 batters to record the 21 outs needed for the win.

Fishers opened up the scoring in the first inning. Duermit led off the game with a walk and immediately stole second base. Craig Yoho followed with an RBI single to make the score 1-0.

The Tigers did not cross the plate again until the 5th inning when Andy Bennett plated Duermit.

Bennett led the Tigers with a 2-hit night finishing 2-4 with an RBI and 3 stolen bases. Duermit reached base all 4 times he batted with a single and 3 walks. Duermit had 2 stolen bases and scored both of the Tigers runs. Caleb Brenczewski also contributed a hit and a stolen base on the night.

Fishers travels to Tennessee Thursday for its annual Spring Break Trip. The Tigers will play AA fourth-ranked Briarcrest Christian, and AAA No. 17-ranked Riverdale Friday and AAA third-ranked Lebanon, and Oakland Saturday.
