CARMEL - The Hamilton Southeastern Girls' Track team opened the outdoor season with a win at Carmel 78-54 Tuesday.
The Royals swept 3 events, won 2 of the 3 relays, and won 4 other events.
In the 100 meter hurdles Mia Mackenzie was first in 15.28 followed by Tayah Irvin in 15.96 and Meghann Cullen in 16.23.
In the pole vault Jessica Bray was first at 11 feet, followed by Natalie McDaniel at 10 feet, and Sydney Sloan at 9 feet 6 inches.
In the long jump Mackenzie lead the way again with 16 feet 5.75 inches, followed by Tierra Sydnor at 15 feet 6.75 inches, and Sydney Encinias at 15 feet 6.5 inches.
Mackenzie also won the 300 meter hurdles in 48.74. Sydnor won the 400 meter dash in 60.88 and Encinias won the high jump at 5 feet 3 inches.
Camille Christopher won the 100 meters in 12.41. The 400 meter relay team of Mackenzie, Sydnor, Olivia Burgess, and Christopher won with a time of 49.57 and the 1,600 meter relay team of Irvin, Ellie Pedersen, Christopher, and Sydnor also won in 4:16.49.
Carmel swept the 1,600 meters with Phoebe Bates finishing first in 5:13.37. Maddie Dalton was second in 5:14.15, and Rachel Anderson third in 5:18.16.
Dalton won the 800 meters in 2:24.27, Anna Morozov finished second in 2:26.39, and Izza Khurram was third in 2:26.45.
Reagan Hune finished first in the 200 meters in 26.08, Natalie Cotherman won the shot put with a throw of 33 feet 10 inches, and the discus with a throw of 119 feet 2 inches.
Carmel's 4 x 800 meter relay team of Sydney Haines, Adell Urtel, Eva Brungard and Tasha Geisler won with a time of 10:23.46.
Bates won the 3,200 meters in 11:14.99, with Daphne Boom finishing third in 11:40.16
"Tonight showed, again, that we have plenty of work ahead of us if we want to be a contender. As long as we keep improving, we are heading in the right direction," said Aaron McRill, head coach.
Carmel is idle until April 11, when it travels to Ben Davis.
HSE is off for spring break and returns to action as they host the Royal Relays on April 15.
