SCOTTSBURG - Hamilton Heights allowed only 1 run in two games, enroute to capturing the Scottsburg Invitational Baseball Tournament Saturday.

The Huskies defeated Jennings County 6-0 in the title game, behind the pitching of Sam Fulton and Reese Wills.

Fulton pitched six shut-out innings, giving up 5 hits and striking out 4 in his six innings of work. Wills closed out the game, pitching the seventh inning.

Heights jumped out early to take the lead in the first inning. The Huskies took the lead on a home run in the first inning by Gabe Reel scoring Noah Wallace and Wills for the early 3-0 lead.

Heights collected ten hits in championship game. Reel and Austin Sauerteig each collected multiple hits for Huskies in game two.

"We really came to play today. We were strong up and down the line up and were have to string multiple hits together. Our Pitching was excellent again from start to finish. Fulton was dominant against a solid Jennings Co team," said Matt Wallace, coach.

Noah Wallace lead many Husky hitters that gave Scottsburg fits, as he bagged four hits in the Huskies 19-1 victory on Saturday in game one of the Scottsburg Invitational. Wallace singled in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

In the opener against Scottsburg, the Huskies grabbed an early lead in the top of the first on a double by Max Wahl, a single by Wills, an error, and a groundout by Fulton.

The Huskies scored nine runs in the fourth inning. Heights' big inning was driven by an error, a double by Fulton, a double by Wallace, a single by Sauerteig, a double by Sam Rupe, a single by Reel, and a single by Riley White.

Huskies had 15 hits in the game. Wallace, Reel, Wills, and Wahl each collected multiple hits for Huskies. Reel had three hits in the game.

Wills, Rupe and Isaiah Haymaker all pitched for the Huskies only giving up two hits and a run in 5 innings with Haymaker getting credit for the win closing things out!

"We were focused and engaged all day, never letting up. Our Bench play was huge in both games. A couple innings Jennings Co had runners in scoring position and we shut the door with pitching defense with big plays by centerfield Max Wahl and first baseman Austin Sauertieg. This was a great weekend to hopefully build momentum into conference play," Wallace said.

Heights will be back in action 5 p.m. Tuesday at Western.
