The Guerin softball squad left absolutely no doubt on Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles crushed the Brebeuf Braves 17-1 in five innings of play at Guerin Catholic High School.
Guerin started off hot scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first and kept things rolling leading 12-0 after only three innings. Brebeuf managed to scrape together a run in the top of the fourth, but the Eagles silenced the Braves with five more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Guerin finished with 17 runs on 15 hits and recorded 14 RBIs.
Five different Golden Eagle batters tallied multiple hits on the night. Madelyn Buckner and Caitlin Collins led the team with three hits each. Julie Gallina, Megan Collins and Sarah Miller each had two hits. Megan Collins, Buckner and Miller all hit triples. Caitlin Collins added a home run.
Miller was also dominant on the mound. She pitched all five innings allowing only one run on three hits while striking out 11 Brebeuf batters. The defense behind her was solid to boot committing no errors on the evening.
The win brings Guerin to .500 (3-3) on the season. The Golden Eagles travel to Brebeuf 5 p.m. today for a rematch.
