Noblesville pitcher Brooke Herron delivers to the plate during the Lady Millers’ 10-3 victory over Westfield Tuesday. Herron tossed six and one third innings allowing five hits and striking out five batters to earn the win and help keep Noblesville undefeated (3-0) on the season.
The Noblesville Miller softball team jumped out to an early lead over conference and county foe Westfield and never relinquished it.
The Millers defeated the Shamrocks 10-3 on Tuesday night at Westfield High School.
Noblesville grabbed the lead in the top of the first inning when Maddie Moore drove in two runs with a double. The Millers added three runs in the second and two more in the third and led 7-1 after three innings. The Rocks generated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it was too little too late.
The Millers finished with 10 runs on 14 hits. Moore, Emily Minett, Brooke Rundle and Julia Furiak each tallied multiple hits for Noblesville. Moore went 3-for-5 and recorded two RBIs. Furiak led the team with three RBIs including the team's lone home run.
For the Rocks, all three of their runs came off solo homers. Cassidy Ferrer went yard in both the second and seventh innings. Kelsey Powers also knocked one out in the bottom of the seventh.
Pitcher Brooke Herron earned the win on the mound for the Millers. Herron tossed six and one third innings allowing five hits and striking out five batters. Taylor Sjoholm came in for the save recording the final two outs.
The win keeps Noblesville (3-0) undefeated on the season. Westfield moves to 2-2. Noblesville next plays 5:30 p.m. today at Carmel.
Westfield also plays 5:30 p.m. at home against Greenfield-Central.
