Homestead edges Noblesville for invitational title

The Noblesville girls track team battled Homestead for first place in the 9-team Noblesville Invitational Wednesday, but the Lady Miller fell three points short.

Homestead finished the meet with 130 point. Noblesville finished with 127, followed by Westfield 99, Lafayette Jeff 78, Lawrence Central 74, Greenfield-Central 57, Mt. Vernon 37, Frankfort 10 and Tipton 10.

For Noblesville, Maria Anderson captured first place finishes in both the 400 and 200 meters. Anderson was the only runner to finish under one minute in the 400, running a :57.81

In the 200 meters, Anderson clocked a :25.03.

Abi Little won the 1,600 meters, in a time of 5:06.35. She joined Kat Dombroski, Anna Hazelrigg and Lily Walter to win the 4 x 400 meter relay, in 4:04.05.

Shelby Tyler won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 4 inches.

Hazelrigg, Aubrie Deal, Dombroski and Aubrey Swart finished first in the 4x800 meter relay, clocking a 9:51.71.

Noblesville returns to action 9 a.m. Saturday at the Southport Relays.
