CARMEL - The IHSAA boy's golf finals, at Prairie View Golf Course, Carmel, were postponed twice due to rain on Tuesday.

The weather allowed Noblesville, who had a 10:33 a.m. tee time, to play only six holes by 4 p.m.

The Millers were joined in competition by Westfield, Carmel, and Fishers, all finishing their first nine by the end of the second delay.

Noblesville was led by sophomore Clay Merchent who shot a 35 in his first six. Millers senior Mitchell Compton tied Merchent with a 35 through six holes. Sophomore Jacob Deakyne shot a 38, while his brother senior Parker Deakyne carded a 37.

John Barnes was the only Miller to finish nine holes by mid-afternoon, with a score of 41.

Westfield, the two-time defending champions, were ranked 3rd coming into this week's contest. The Shamrocks were led by junior Andrew Lewis and senior Noah Shanteau after the first nine, both of them shooting one under par 36. The Rocks as a team were third after the first nine out of 15 teams.

Ethan Lutz came out of his first nine with an even 36, followed by senior Josh Kehl with a 39 and junior Stephen Hildebrand with a score of 50. As a team, the Rocks finished nine with a score of 195.

Carmel led Westfield by 15 strokes after the first nine holes, with a team score of 180. The Greyhounds were led by junior Curtis Robertson and sophomores Cole Harris and Nicholas Dentino, all with a score of 35.

Senior Kevin Stone hit an even 36 and freshman Clay Stirsman shot a 39.

Rounding out the Hamilton County teams was Fishers making its first state finals appearance. The Tigers finished their top nine in 10th place.

Junior Noah Chamberlin hit a 39 for the Tigers followed by freshman Bryce Robertson with a 40, while juniors Nicholas Fisher and Shivom Patel carded 41's. Finishing off the Tigers top nine line up was senior Jackson Ousley with a score of 48.

Play will resume Wednesday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. Westfield will be the first of the four teams to tee off at 8:18 a.m.
