7/18/2017 3:33:00 PM IU wide receiver arrested in Noblesville
Indiana University wide receiver Simmie Orvell Cobbs Jr. was arrested Saturday at Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville. The redshirt junior was charged with refusal to identify and resisting law enforcement, both misdemeanors, while at a Jason Aldean concert.
Cobbs was taken to the Klipsch security office after he refused to comply with security officers trying to clear aisles after the concert. Cobbs refused to take a breathalyzer test or provide identification, and was then arrested. He was released from the Hamilton County jail on Sunday afternoon with a trial date scheduled.
Cobbs played only one game in the 2016 season after suffering a season-ending injury in the Hoosiers win against Ball State. He received a medical redshirt. He made 60 receptions for IU his sophomore season in 2015 for just over 1,000 yards. He became just the sixth Hoosier to meet the 1,000 yard mark in a single season.
He was named to the All-Big Ten honorable mention list in 2015. He played high school football at Oak Park and River Forest High schools in Illinois before joining the Hoosiers. He was ranked 27th among recruits in his class and was a 2013 All-State selection.
