Westfield's continues strong golf season

The Westfield and Carmel girls golf teams competed on Thursday at the Crooked Stick Country Club in Carmel. Westfield tied Zionsville for first place in the invitational with a team score of 325. This win marked the fourth first place finish for the Shamrocks out of five tries. The Shamrocks were led by Jocelyn Bruch who was one of only 5 players that broke 80 on the day. Bruch finished with a 78. The Greyhounds took home yet another third place finish, their third for the season, with a team total of 331 strokes.

"We had a great front nine as a team but made some big numbers on the back nine," said Kelly Kluesner, Carmel head coach. "It was still a good day for us."

The Hamilton Heights girls golf team competed in the West Lafayette Girls Golf Invitational Thursday at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course on the Purdue University campus. Sixteen teams participated in the Invite and Heights came home with a 13th place finish.

Kate Biggs led the Huskies with 93 strokes. She was followed by Alyx Harley with a 98, Ellie Arrowood with an even 100, Mallori Clark with a 130 and Veronica Meredith with a 143.

Lafayette Jefferson was the winning team with a score of 309. Other scores were: Lake Central, 325; Western, 341; Twin Lakes, 365; Lafayette Jefferson JV 369; Northwestern, 371; Harrison, 380; Tipton, 381; Benton Central, 390; Western JV, 395; McCutcheon, 404; Rensselaer, 414; Hamilton Heights, 421; Frankfort, 448; West Lafayette, 467; and Logansport, 477.

The individual medalist for the match was Alexis Miestowski of Lake Central with a round of 65.
