Varsity Score: Carmel - 157, Noblesville - 197
Noblesville's varsity and junior varsity girls golf teams both suffered losses in early season matches this week. The varsity Millers faced off against the Carmel Greyhounds at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
Noblesville finished with a score of 197, 40 strokes over Carmel's 157. The Millers were led by Brooke Gigante with a 38, followed by Taylor Keating with a 45, Ellie Karst with a 55, Bella Deibel with a 59, and Ellen Bennett with a 61.
Carmel's top shooter on the day was Alex Maples who finished with a 37 and an individual medal. Katie Kuc was one stroke behind with a 38, Nina Hecht took home a 40, Elizabeth Hedrick tied with teammate Erin Evans, both with 42's, and Libby McGuire finished with a 44.
The varsity Millers' next challenge comes Thursday when they host the New Palestine Dragons for a 4:00 p.m. tee time at Harbour Trees Golf and Beach Club in Noblesville.
The junior varsity team squared off against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals finishing the course with a 222 to HSE's 174. The Lady Royals were led by Mara Wilson's 41. Teammates Maggie Watson, Peyton Schecter, and Kate Jones rounded out the Royals' score with a 47, 42, and 44. Freshman Kalei McHaffie was welcomed into spot #5 for her first JV match of her career, finishing with a 52.
On the par 3 course, more JV players competed and the Royals were again able to continue to hone in on their skills as they faced the Millers with another victory. HSE's Stephanie McClung's 36, Ashley Marcinko's 31, Shealee Johnson's 40, and Gabby Willard's 42 rounded out the score to 149. Noblesville finished with a 186.
