The CHS Girls' Soccer team defeated MIC opponent Lawrence North 5-0 Tuesday evening.
"It is hard to get a team focused after playing the very talented teams we faced on Saturday but two things really helped this with that focus this evening. First, we wanted to take the lead in the race to win the MIC title and we accomplished that goal. The second objective was to get senior Lucy Lyon on the field for the first time in over 5 months. As you can tell from the stats, we were able to get that done, also," said Coach Frank Dixon.
"While the staff was pleased with the overall team play, several players stood out for their play on offense. This was a huge night for Katie Soderstrom. She accounted for 3 of our five goals and added an assist. Katie now leads the team in both goals and assists. Kelsie James was her usual consistent self with a goal and an assist. She moved into second on the team in both categories with 5 goals and 6 assists. Jessica Dilger had 2 assists from her midfield position."
With Tuesday's win the team record is now 7-1-1 (MIC 3-0-0). Carmel will move on from Lawrence North to another MIC opponent, Lawrence Central, for the next game tomorrow evening at 7.
