Guerin tennis tops Hamilton Southeastern

Singles

1. Michael Wade def McGuire Wolfe 6-3 6-1

2. Cole Metzger def Elias Yarling 7-6(5) 6-1

3. Michael Aikman lost to Otto Lutz 2-6 0-6

Doubles

1. Wyatt Metzger-Jake Bratton def Andrew Myers-Mark Slaninka 6-3 6-1

2. A J Hacker-Shane Shuler lost to Matthew Parker-Matt Meyer 6-2 6-7(3) 0-6



The Golden Eagles got by the HSE Royals Monday night 3-2. Guerin Catholic's number one singles player Michael Wade defeated HSE's McGuire Wolfe in two sets 6-3, 6-1. Cole Metzger also picked up a win in the number two singles spot against Royals number two hitter Elias Yarling.

The first of Guerin's two losses came in the number three singles match where HSE's Otto Lutz defeated Guerin's Michael Aikman 6-2, 6-0.

The doubles teams split, each team taking one victory. The number one doubles team of Wyatt Metzger and Jake Bratton of Guerin beat HSE's Andrew Myers and Mark Slaninka 6-2, 6-7, 0-6.

HSE then took the number two doubles match 6-2, 6-7, 0-6 as Royals Matthew Parker and Matt Meyer outplayed Guerin's AJ Hacker and Shane Shuler.

"We were fortunate to get a win tonight." Said Guerin Coach Joe Lustig. "We did finish strong at #1 and #2 singles and #1 doubles, but we did not come out tonight ready to play."

The Golden Eagles will play again against Cathedral on Friday at home for Senior Night. The match begins at 5 p.m.

The Royals take on Lebanon on Thursday at Lebanon. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
