Sheridan Falls to Tipton

After a competitive first half, the Sheridan Blackhawks could not overcome their halftime deficit and fell to the Tipton Blue Devils 34-14.

Sheridan received the opening kickoff and despite a defensive pass interference call against Tipton they were unable to convert on a critical 4th down inside the red zone, giving Tipton the ball with 7:35 left in the first quarter.

Tipton would score on their opening possession with a 75 yard touchdown pass from KJ Roudebush to Hyatt Flanigan and with the extra point Tipton would lead 7-0 with 5:25 left in the first quarter.

Sheridan's Ange Gnamkey ensured that the score wouldn't stay that way for long as he returned the kickoff 90 yards and with the extra point the score was tied at 7-7 with 5:12 left in the first quarter.

The momentum remained with Sheridan as a fumble on the kickoff gave the Blackhawks the ball on the 33 for their next possession. Joe Callahan would give the Blackhawks a touchdown with a five yard run and the extra point would give Sheridan a 14-7 lead with 1:50 left in the first quarter.

Both Tipton and Sheridan would have a pair of non producing drives but Tipton would score next with Roudebush throwing a 45 yard touchdown to Luke Stoker and with the extra point the game was tied at 14 with 6:22 left in the second quarter.

Tipton would strike blood next as Peyton Carter would score on a one yard run. A missed extra point meant that the score would be 20-14 at halftime in favor of Tipton.

The Blue Devils would receive the second half kickoff and a failed fourth down conversion turned the ball over to Sheridan on downs. Sheridan would go three and out to give Tipton the ball back after a punt.

Roudebush then ran the ball six yards into the end zone to give the Blue Devils another touchdown and with the extra point the score was 27-14 in Tipton's favor with 3:05 left in the third quarter.

A Sheridan fumble gave Tipton the ball back with 2:52 left in the third quarter but a series of penalties meant that Tipton punted from a 4th and 51. Sheridan would have the ball for the remainder of the third quarter.

Tipton then put the game out of reach with Roudebush running the ball for 46 yards before then taking the ball into the end zone with a one yard run two plays later. The extra point made the score 34-14 with 7:32 left in the game.

The score would remain unchanged for the rest of the game as Tipton would go to 7-0 while Sheridan would fall to 5-2. Sheridan's next game is against the Eastern High School Comets.
