The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles girls basketball team remains winless after a loss to Marion High School on Tuesday, 61-39.

The Golden Eagles worked hard to keep it close in the first half, but could not get it going in the third quarter.

An abundant number of fouls in an attempt to make steals or secure the ball led to 10 points from the charity strip for the Marion Giants in the second half. Guerin Catholic shot just four free throws in the second half but made them all.

Guerin has been struggling offensively so far this season, averaging just 35.9 points per game on 26% shooting. The team finished Tuesday's game shooting 24% from the field on 12-49 shot attempts.

The Golden Eagles led the rebound battle despite being undersized by a 39-37 tally.

Sydney Geis, the team's leading scorer averaging 12.5 points per game, once again led the team in scoring with 12.

Dani Mason, Sarah Holba, and Carly Hammons led Golden Eagles in rebounds with six each.

The Golden Eagles turned the ball over 24 times and got into some foul trouble, ending the game with 22 team fouls.

The junior varsity Golden Eagles defeated Marion 55-24 on Tuesday moving to 2-4 on the season.

Guerin will look for its first victory of the season on Saturday as they travel to Tri-West Hendricks High School. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
