It was a night to remember for University basketball in downtown Indianapolis.
Both the school's boys and girls teams played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers, and both squads left with double-digit victories on Friday.
The University girls team took the floor first, and used a 32-0 run over the second and third quarters on its way to a 66-22 win against Seton Catholic.
Four Trialblazers finished in double figures in scoring, with Lindsey Syrek leading the balanced offensive attack with 16 points. Natalie Nickless, 14, Haley Tomlinson, 11, and Brooke Andrus, 10, were the Trailblazers other double-figure scorers.
University (11-2) led 7-4 after the first quarter, but outscored the Cardinals 51-8 over the second and third quarters.
The University boys basketball team earned a double-figure win of their own over a Seton Catholic team, as the Trailblazer defeated the Cardinals 47-25 in the nightcap.
University held Seton Catholic scoreless for more than eight minutes during a stretch that spanned the first and second quarters. The game went from being tied at four to a 13 point Trailblazer advantage. The lead never dropped below double figures from that point on.
Senior Ethan Sickels scored 11 of his team-high 15 in the second. Fellow seniors David Howard and Zachary Hodgin each poured in eights points and senior Josh Watson added seven. Hodgin and Howard led the team with six rebounds each.
The Trailblazers kept their undefeated season (8-0) alive with the win, and they'll look to make it nine straight on Dec. 29 against Eastern Greene.
