The Guerin Catholic girls swim team soundly defeated the Scecina Memorial Crusaders and the host Beech Grove Hornets on Thursday evening. With several top swimmers unavailable, GC still scored 142 points to the 106 and 64 earned by Beech Grove and Scecina, respectively.

Heights' Haworth competes for Elite Track Club
Hamilton Heights' Baily Haworth is a member of the Kokomo based K-Town Elite Track Club.

Saturday the Club competed at Indiana Tech's Circle Logistics Warriors Invite at the Turnstone Center, and although no Club member won or placed high in an event, many came out of it with personal records.

Noblesville to break ground on Finch Creek Fieldhouse
The City of Noblesville will break ground on Finch Creek Fieldhouse, Noblesville's newest sports complex located at Finch Creek Park on SR 37, on Dec. 15. The fieldhouse will be a new $15 million, 130,000-square-foot youth sports facility for the community.

As I opened the door to my vehicle, I could feel the tiny pinpricks of light drizzle strike my cheek as a cold east wind attempted to snatch the camouflage baseball cap on my head. The low scudding clouds raced over the landscape seemingly low enough to hit with a kite as horizon grew darker and more menacing. Overall it was a lousy day to be outside, but I was happy.

Carmel moves to 1-1 with victory over LC Bears
The Carmel Greyhounds sailed past the Lawrence Central Bears on Friday night by a score of 63-49.

Carmel's offense struck early and often, leaving the Bears in a 14-3 hole after the first quarter. The Greyhounds outscored the Bears in both the second and third quarters as well, adding to their lead.

Sheridan had a dominant first half, keeping the Titans scoreless through the first quarter. The Blackhawks scored 15 of their own in the first eight minutes to take a double digit lead into the second, where they outscored Taylor again 21-6.

WESTFIELD BOYS BASKETBALL PREVIEW
The Shamrocks lost their top three scorers of last season, including top offensive man Ian Kristensen, to graduation. Kristensen averaged 19.9 points for the Rocks. Jonah Welch and Aaron Bennett averaged 10.1 and 6.3 points respectively for the Rocks last year.

This year's squad is comprised mostly of upperclassmen, six seniors and four juniors, so there is plenty of varsity experience to lift the Rocks to a solid season run.

Evaluations tonight for Grades 3-8 winter basketball leagues
Registration is open for kindergarten through Grade 8 for the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville's Winter Basketball program.

In its 38th season, practice begins the week of Dec. 4, and games begin the week of Jan. 8 with the season running through March 17, when the Club plays host to its annual Basketball Spectacular at Noblesville High School.

All regular-season games will be played at the Club's Community Center, 150 N. 17th St., Noblesville, with practices scheduled at select Noblesville schools.

University of Arkansas freshman diver Brooke Schultz claimed her third SEC Diver of the Week honor from the league office Tuesday, following her performance against Nebraska last Friday. Shultz spent some time with the Hamilton Heights swim club while her father and coach, Dale Shultz spent one year as the associate head coach at Ripfest Diving in Noblesville.

Carmel takes first in cross country sectional races
Noblesville high school hosted the cross country IHSAA sectional tournament on Saturday and played host to eight other schools, seven from Hamilton County. The host team came in fifth place with a team score of 116. With five of the teams being ranked in the top 15 in the state, it was projected to be a tight race.

A total of 15 teams have advanced five golfers each and 25 individuals have made it without their squads for a total of 100 participants. All teams and players will play 36 holes.
