Guerin Catholic will battle Brebeuf this Friday in a sectional playoff game at 7 pm.

The Golden Eagles come into the game with an overall record of 6-3 and a tough loss against a very good Roncalli team. Even though they did not win on Friday, they have a lot to be proud of, playing one of the best teams in the state down to the wire.

Seven Hamilton County schools advanced to the Cross Country Semi State Tournament at Shelbyville this weekend after Noblesville hosted the regional races. The top five teams from each regional as well as the top ten individuals not on an advancing team will race at Semi State.

Noblesville high school hosted the cross country IHSAA sectional tournament on Saturday and played host to eight other schools, seven from Hamilton County. The host team came in fifth place with a team score of 116. With five of the teams being ranked in the top 15 in the state, it was projected to be a tight race.

University Trailblazers take down Sheridan Blackhawks
The Lady Trailblazers played a stellar game against Sheridan Tuesday night winning 7-2. Within the first two minutes of the game, junior Kenzie Allen played a ball into sophomore Tessa Hudson for the first goal of the game. A couple of minutes later, University junior Lily Snyder found Hudson again for the second goal. Two more goals were scored by Hudson in the first half. Sheridan eventually got through the Trailblazer defense and the Blackhawks connected for their first goal of the evening at the end of the first half.

At the half, it was 4-1 Trailblazers. Going into the second half, junior Halle Von Ah scored for the Trailblazers as well as Allen. Hudson finished the game with her fifth goal halfway through the second half. The Trailblazers won 7-2.

It is ironic that outdoors enthusiasts will drive hundreds of miles just to park their vehicle so they can then engage in walking, paddling, floating, riding or climbing for enjoyment. While we sometimes focus on the relatively-small risks of the sports themselves, few people give more than a passing thought to the most statistically dangerous part of most outdoor activities: the drive.
