Bert Haisma
Feb. 7, 1933 - Aug. 6, 2017

Bert Haisma, age 84, of Arcadia, IN passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Westfield at Westfield.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, at Oudehaske, Netherlands to Jacob and Wietske (deJong) Haisma.

After his high school years he proudly served his country in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He then became employed by the Oak Lawn School District at Oak Lawn, Ill., where he was maintenance supervisor for 31 years.

Leisure time would find him gardening and woodworking. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He married Maria (deDries) Haisma on April 12, 1960. She preceded him in death Sept. 21, 2015.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina Maria (Greg) Marshall of Arcadia; sons, Bert Jack Haisma of Martinsville, and William John (Char) Haisma of St. Anne, Ill.; a sister, Clara Kennedy of Ontario, Canada, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and fourteen siblings.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church at Noblesville, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017. Pastor Douglas Gast will officiate with burial to follow at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until time of the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
