John 'Jay' Douthit
March 18, 1944 - Sept. 9, 2017

John 'Jay' Douthit, 73, of Noblesville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at home. Those who knew him will be surprised that the cause of death was not the consistently poor play of his beloved Vanderbilt Commodores football team.

He was born to Loren and Irene (French) Douthit on March 18, 1944, in Indianapolis.

He was a proud graduate of PS 84, Broad Ripple High School, and Vanderbilt University.

He loved to travel with his wife of 47 years, Susan. They traveled the world together throughout their blessed marriage. He was active with Edna Martin Christian Center and First Christian Church. He visited most of the golf courses in central Indiana and the Caribbean. He took advantage of his years of retirement after a long career at the George F. Cram Company.

Survivors include his children, Eric (Jill) Douthit, Todd (Micah) Douthit, Brent (Anna) Douthit and Stacy (Travis) Fogg, he could be found at a number of sporting events, concerts and trips to the zoo with his grandchildren, Tate, Sam, Reid, Noah, JC, Jake, Ellis, Jack, Dailey, Caub, Luke and Max. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Douthit and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at First Christian Church of Noblesville, 16377 Herriman Blvd., Noblesville, with Pastor John Davis officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edna Martin Christian Center, 2605 E. 25th St., Indianapolis, IN 46217; or, First Christian Church Outreach Fund, 16377 Herriman Blvd, Noblesville, IN 46060. In Jay's memory, also take your kids/grandkids out for a scoop of ice cream at Alexanders on the Square in Noblesville.
