Richard 'Rick' Nevins

Richard "Rick" Nevins, 71, died peacefully in his Noblesville home Sept. 10, 2017.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1946, in Santa Monica, Calif., and was raised by Frank and Mary Nevins in Pendleton.
In 1964, he joined the armed forces and was assigned to Fort Sill, Okla., for his basic training. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he earned designation as a sharpshooter with the 1st Battalion, 7th Calvary and was awarded the Bronze Service Star. After graduating from basic training, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Calvary and deployed to Vietnam where he served two tours. After leaving the Army he started his career at Ford Motor Company the day before his 23rd birthday in 1969. He retired in 1999 after thirty years of work. He was a brave and loyal soldier, husband, as well as a patient and loving father. He married Terri Overton in Franklin, March 21, 1981. He was a lost soul looking for salvation and meaning to life before he was saved in 1980 at the First Assembly of God in Franklin.
Survivors include his wife Terri; sons, Nick, Daniel and Ricky; daughter Mollie; his eight grandchildren; brothers Tony and Chris; sisters Susan, Petie and Penny.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Duncan and Mike; and sister Jessica.
Visitation is scheduled from 11a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., with Jack Herring officiating. Interment, with military honors, will take place at Hamilton Memorial Park.
