Kenneth Franklin Rollins
Nov. 8, 1923 - Oct. 22, 2017

Kenneth Franklin Rollins, age 93, of Cicero, died Oct. 22, 2017, at Riverview Health at Noblesville.

He was born Nov. 8, 1923, at Indianola, Neb., to George W. and Edith (Rohrer) Rollins.

He attended schools in Nebraska and later furthered his education taking farm courses at Purdue University.

Being industrious, he became the farm manager for Indiana Academy near Cicero from 1953 to 1961, then worked for Farm Bureau Co-op at Noblesville for 25 years while also farming for himself. He raised hundreds of baby chicks at a time, and when they became layers he sold them to other entities. He also owned and managed Rollins Paint Service, painting outbuildings throughout central Indiana.

Kenny, as he was fondly known, loved animals and took good care of those in his care. He especially had a soft heart for cats. He often took up to 40 cats from an Indianapolis Shelter and kept them in good health on his farm.

His friends said he never met a stranger, loved getting to know people and learn from them. He was a master story teller, sharing his experiences and travels with others. He enjoyed reading and traveling. But most of all he loved his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of the Cicero Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was first married to Nina (White) Rollins who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his second wife of 20 years, Carolyn Joyce (Thompson) Rollings, sons, Duane (Marilyn) Rollins of Apopka, Fla., and Dale (Karol) Rollins of Snellville, Ga., and a daughter: Delores Rudolph of Auburn, grandchildren, Monica Riecke, Terri Steger, Sean Rollins, Christopher Rollins, April Walker, Jennifer Payton and Kimberly Maddux. Additional survivors include great-grandchildren, Anthony Riecke, Brittany Riecke, David Millhouser, Sara Maddux, and Emily Payton, and great-great grandchildren: Rylann Dunbar Riecke and Addison Wagner.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by six siblings.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Cicero Seventh Day Adventist Church with visitation scheduled from 2 p.m. until time of the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Academy.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel where you may send condolences at www.hartleyfuneralhoomes.com.
