While Hamilton County Parks & Recreation plays host to two sold-out daddy-daughter dances tonight and Friday, folks looking for Valentine-themed activities can still find an array of Valentine-themed events in and around Noblesville beginning this weekend.
Here’s a list of 35 ways to spend First Friday and and upcoming days and nights, plus some dates to save in your calendar:
1. Hamilton County Artists’ Association invites the community to its First Friday Artists Reception, with music and refreshments, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at HCAA’s Birdie Gallery on Fifth Street in Noblesville. The reception will celebrate HCAA’s 13 new juried members.
2. Kids of all ages can create their own tie-dye shirts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lil Bloomers children’s boutique in downtown Noblesville.
3. Folks can celebrate with their valentine during the final weekend of “Side the Side by Sondheim,” a musical revue, featuring songs of love and marriage by Stephen Sondheim and directed by Ron Richards, with music director Brenna Whitaker, with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Belfry Theatre in Noblesville.
4. Atlanta Craft and Vendor event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Atlanta, Ind.
5. Learn about your water and have it tested during a Hamilton County Soil & Water program from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds in Noblesville. Those who want their water screened must pick up a water sampling bottle at Arcadia or Sheridan town halls, Westfield Public Library or Hamilton Soil & Water Conservation District office in Noblesville.
6. Hamilton County Artists’ Association will play host to “Family Art Day with HCAA,” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Art Room at NobleMade gift shop on the Square, where HCAA will lead a drop-in art activity to make a Valentine’s Day Pop-Up card, designed by member Karen Fehr and (new juried member) Melinda Hamilton for $5. Proceeds will go toward HCAA’s annual Children’s Art Camp in June and a high school art scholarship. (By the way, HCAA also has open figure drawings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays.)
7. Valentine’s Day for All will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and also on Feb. 15 at Nickel Plate Arts Campus in Noblesville with a Cupid Arts Crawl each day, with drop-in activities at Nickel Plate, Caravan Classes, NobleMade and Kiln Creations. There are also Date Nights for couples, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 13-14 at Nickel Plate.
8. The 1205 Distillery North in Westfield will have its grand-opening party from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday in Westfield.
9. Films and Discussions for Black History Month are “The Hate U Give,” at 2 p.m. Saturday; “Hidden Figures,” Feb. 21; and “Loving,” Feb. 22 at Hamilton East Public Library in Noblesville, in partnership with Noblesville Diversity Coalition.
10. Indianapolis Brass Choir will perform at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Fishers.
11. Noblesville Parks offers Pickleball Drop-In, 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays; 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays at the Recreation Annex inside Ivy Tech, for $5 per person.
12. A teen Pal-entine Party will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Hamilton East Public Library in Noblesville.
13. The quarterly meeting of the 100+ Women Who Care in Hamilton County will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Delaware Township Community Center in Fishers, with each attendee to write a check for $100 to a chosen charity.
14. Conner Longrifles’ 37th annual Living History Trade Fair and Antique Arms Show is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds in Noblesville with two-day passes available and ages 12 and younger admitted free.
15. En Pointe Indiana Ballet in Noblesville will present “Curiosity,” an original contemporary ballet inspired by Cirque du Soleil, at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at Noblesville High School, with artistic directors Pollyana Ribeiro and Robert Moore with tickets at http://enpointeindiana.com/. The jazz-inspired piece is set in the romantic Victorian era, showcasing modern, contemporary, jazz, tap and hip hop dance in a fantasy world of steampunk science fiction.
16. For Valentine’s Day, “True Love is Forever,” a Paranormal Date Night, will be Feb. 14 and 15 at the Roads Hotel in Atlanta, Ind. Join Supernatural Investigation Crew on Feb. 14 with K.D Stafford “The Mad Scientist” From Travel Channel’s “Ghost of Morgan City”. Stafford and his wife Katy Stafford own and operate Supernatural Ink. The event will have three ticket price levels ($200, $65, $40), and will only offer 30 tickets.
17. The Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville’s annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser is 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 15 at the BGCN Community Center, with $5 tickets, available from players in the youth basketball leagues, who are selling tickets for a contest.
18. Adults may enjoy an Ales and Rails Beer and Chocolate Pairing at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 15 during 90-minute rides through Hamilton County on the Nickel Plate Express.
19. A first-time President’s Day Dinner is at 5:30 pm. Feb. 15 at Gaylor Electric in Noblesville. Each ticket ($50-$250) sold helps to further the mission of the Indiana High School Republicans, who are admitted for $15. Speakers include State Rep. Chuck Goodrich, Indiana Auditor Tera Klutz, and Indiana Speaker-elect Todd Huston.
20. The Nickel Plate Express will offer a Valentine’s Day brunch at 11 a.m. Feb. 16 departing from Noblesville and a Family Friendly Ride from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at Forest Park in Noblesville.
21. Learn how to Make a World Bead Bracelet from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers.
