FISHERS – Designated the 2017 Money Magazine Best Place to Live, there’s no shortage of vibrancy or pride throughout the Fishers community. With great excitement, the City of Fishers and a diverse array of community partners are thrilled to announce Spark!Fishers.
“When the City decided to spearhead a summer event in the Nickel Plate District, we wanted to create something community-led, first and foremost,” said Fishers’ Mayor Scott Fadness. “Spark!Fishers pays homage to the rich history of our community while celebrating how it has and will continue to ignite our future.”
While Spark!Fishers is brand new to the Nickel Plate District, it does include some of the annual Fourth of July traditions Fishers’ families have come to cherish. The weekend promises to include elements for residents of all ages, including:
• National concert at the newly renovated Nickel Plate District AMP
• Family-friendly 5K walk/run
• Street Fair, filled with everything from food to entertainment
• A community parade, unlike anything Fishers’ residents have seen before
• A community fireworks show to conclude the celebration.
he development of Spark!Fishers is being overseen by Honorary Co-Chairs, including Mayor Fadness, Hamilton Southeastern Schools Superintendent Allen Bourff, Conner Prairie CEO Norman Burns, and recently retired HSE S.P.O.R.T.S. Executive Director Lynda Carlino.
The event is being led by seven committees with more than 80 members of the community alongside City employees. Stakeholders are already in the planning stages, working to highlight unique aspects of Fishers while creating an atmosphere that welcomes all ability levels, backgrounds, and interests.
Details about Spark! Fishers are still unfolding, and residents are encouraged to explore opportunities and sign up at http://www.sparkfishers.com. Those interested in watching the event unfold are encouraged to connect with Spark!Fishers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Ongoing details will be shared with the community as they are solidified.
