Teachers from North Elementary in Noblesville on Sunday decorated their vehicles and drove through student neighborhoods to honk, wave and cheer to their students from afar. All schools in the district have been closed for the past week and will remain closed through at least May 1 due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease) pandemic. Teachers from Hinkle Creek Elementary also drove through their student neighborhoods on Sunday. The other five elementary schools liked this idea so much that their teachers are all doing their own parades: Noble Crossing Elementary, at 1 p.m. today; White River Elementary, at 3:30 p.m. today; Promise Road Elementary, at 5 p.m. Wednesday; Stony Creek Elementary, at 2 p.m. April 13; and Hazel Dell Elementary, at noon April 13. School families braved the cold, damp weather to wave at their teachers. Read more about the teacher parades in The Betsy Reason column in an upcoming edition of The Times.
