FISHERS - The Lady Royals started off the season with a great win against a tough Ben Davis team.

The Lady Royals continue to find ways to win games. In a game that points were slim, the Lady Royals fought hard on the defensive end to pull out their first victory of the season. The Lady Royals led most of the game; however, Ben Davis took the lead late. A couple tough defensive stands turned into offensive points and the Royals were back on top. In a game that came down to a few possessions in the final minutes, the Lady Royals were able to withstand the defensive pressure Ben Davis brought.

Leading Scorers for the Lady Royals were Senior Sydney Parrish with 33 and Jackie Maulucci with 13. Leading rebounders were Parrish with nine and Bailee Poore with seven. 

The win for the defending class 4A champs gets their season started off with a record of 1-0. The Lady Royals will be back in action on Saturday as they host the Southeastern Shootout. The team will first play Center Grove at 10 a.m.

Lady Millers drop first game to Lawrence North

INDIANAPOLIS - The Noblesville Lady Millers got their season started on Thursday night as they traveled to Lawrence North High School. 

The result did not go in favor of the Lady Millers as Lawrence North was able to come away with a 62-39 win. 

Highly-skilled freshman Ashlynn Shade made a big impact in her debut for the Lady Millers as she scored 26 of the teams 39 points, while adding in six rebounds. 

The loss for the Lady Millers begins their season with a record of 0-1. The team will be back in action on Saturday as they will host Fort Wayne Snider for the teams home opener beginning at 6:30 p.m. 

Golden Eagles drop season opener 

LEBANON - The Golden Eagles opened their season on the road against sectional opponent, the Lebanon Tigers. 

The team got out to a quick start but ultimately came up short losing 43-37.

 As with most first games, sloppy play was the deciding factor as the team turned the ball over 21 times. 

The offensive balance was a positive sight as Kathryn Loso scored 11, and Nicole Cunningham and Olivia Labus scored 10 each. 

The loss begins the Goledn Eagles season with a record of 0-1. 

There isn’t much time to rest as University comes to The Nest Friday night for the home opener.

Lady Blackhawks pick up first win 

SHERIDAN - The Lady Blackhawks on Wednesday hosted the Monrovia Bulldogs in their home opener of the 2019-20 season. 

The Lady Blackhawks were coming off a season opening 66-23 loss at the hands of Frankton on Tuesday and were looking to notch their first win in front of their home crowd. 

The Blackhawks were able to do just that as they survived a late comeback attempt from the Bulldogs to win by a final score of 74-66. 

The first quarter saw the two battle back and forth with Sheridan holding a 17-14 lead. 

In the second quarter the Blackhawks found themselves clicking on all cylinders as they outscored the Bulldogs 26-9 to take a commanding 43-23 lead heading into halftime. 

However the Bulldogs wouldn’t go down quietly as their offense was able to pick things up in the second half as they scored 43 of their 66 points in the thrid and fourth quarters. The Blackhawks while getting outscored were still able to hold on to the lead as the buzzer sounded. 

Leading the way for the Blachawks in the win was Junior Allie Delph who finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists to go along with seven steals on the night (led team in all categories). Fellow Junior Katy Crail with 13 points and Sophomore Berkley Williams rounded out the double figure scoring for the Lady Blackhawks in the win. 

The win for the Blackhawks is their first in this early season as their record now stands at 1-1. The team will return to action tonight as the travel to take on Bethesda Christian (0-0).
