The excitement of 2,000 young football players and cheerleaders – and their participating parents – returns to Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday, Nov. 4 in what is frequently described as the “Greatest Day Ever.” “The whole experience was magical,” says Greenville (IN) Youth Football League coach Matt Preece in summarizing last year’s event. “When thousands of fans are cheering for a touchdown, for a second you’re imagining you’re an NFL coach calling a game.” It’s no wonder the event is billed as the “Greatest Day Ever” as thousands of kids step onto the artificial turf at Lucas Oil Stadium to the cheers of 6,000 friends and family. Looking upward into the 67,000 seats, these young football and cheer teams can imagine what it feels like to wear an Indianapolis Colts uniform on game day. If they close their eyes, maybe they will hear the crowd’s thunderous applause. These are the Red Zone Games, where 7- to 12-year-olds play football and cheer routines on the Colts’ perfectly manicured turf in an experience unique by anyone’s standards. The Red Zone Games website includes lots of good stuff, including newly found pics of last year’s event: https://bit.ly/2y0VEim
