Mel Kingery is a  former resident of Hamilton County from 1947- 1996. He was 1966 graduate of Fishers High School. Alice is from Arcadia, OH. They met during the summer of 1967, when Alice was in Noblesville working a summer job between college semesters. Mel worked at Jenn-Air. That fall she returned to Findlay College in OH and Mel, having been drafted joined the US Army. After serving a 15 month tour of duty in Viet Nam, their long distance relationship resumed. Every weekend he drove from central Indiana to northwest Ohio to visit Alice until they married in 1970. They moved into what had been his grandmother’s home on Cherry Street, and they could easily walk to the courthouse square to shop or dine out at one of the local restaurants. Over the next 26 years, they would live on North Ninth Street, Kensington Drive, and Stony Creek Overlook. Their daughter Melanie is a NHS graduate and son Adam completed grades K-8. For 26 years Alice was a teacher at North Elementary, and Mel continued the daily drive down to Shadeland Avenue to work at Jenn-Air until the new owner Maytag moved the plant south in 1996...?? So They Loaded Up Their Trunks and They Moved to Tennessee...Hills there are...Watering holes ...Country Stars ??  Although they enjoy the milder TN climate and living closer to their  married children and their families in Cumming, GA and Navarre, FL ...in their  hearts, they will always be Hoosiers!
