The members of the Kiwanis Club of Cicero inducted its officers and board for the 2019-20 year at its annual meeting last month. Mitch Russell was elected as President; Robin Mills, Immediate Past President; Jan Unger, President Elect; Rhonda Gary, Treasurer; and Earline Gibson and Emily Holt as Secretary. Directors at Large include Nick Barger, Tony Heath, Perry Williams, and Keith Ecker.
Sharon Canaday, Lt. Governor, Sycamore South Division, attended the meeting and performed the officer induction ceremony. Robin Mills, who officially turned the reins over to Russell at the event, said she is excited about what the new Board brings to the club in terms of leadership, experience, and vision. “I think they will provide great direction and energy in the year ahead. We remain very strong in our mission of service to the greater Northern Hamilton County area,” noted Mills of the club now 42 years strong.
“Changing the world one child at a time is powerful motivation to keep up the club’s good work,” said Mitch Russell, of his involvement with the club. Russell, a long-term resident of Arcadia, is a familiar face in the community. He has worn many hats personally and professionally and is well known for improving the quality of life in the area through his dedication and contributions as a public servant over the years. “Service leadership works and together, we can make a difference that can be seen and felt,” he noted.
“I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors who have made great strides in the organization through their leadership,” added Russell. “As we start a new Kiwanis year, I look forward to working together with an impressive leadership team and engaged members toward keeping our club strong and vibrant in the year ahead.”
Cicero Kiwanis Club is part of the Sycamore South Division of Indiana District of Kiwanis. its members are volunteers committed to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Club provides scholarships to graduating High School students, grants for play and educational equipment, supports local Boy and Girl Scouts and much more.
