John E. Hazelwood Sr., 88, of Moores Hill, formerly of Noblesville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1929, to Lovell and Elva (Williams) Hazelwood in Leitchfield, Ky.
He was a mechanical engineer who owned AAI in Fishers. He was an inventor who held 5 patents and loved science and reading about science and outer space. He was involved with Boy Scouts Troop 104 of Cambridge City and enjoyed fishing, nature, camping, sailing and water skiing. He enjoyed photography and tinkering with new devices and ideas. He was also a woodworker, loved going to old engine shows, and collected old cameras and guns, mostly muzzle loaders. He loved good food and going out to eat.
Survivors include his children, Judith A. (David Sr.) Barnes, John E. (Julie) Hazelwood Jr., Sandra L. (Richard) Hewett, Michael J. (Ann) Hazelwood, Susan K. (Wil) Hammack, and Cynthia L. Hazelwood; 13 grandchildren, Mary, Elizabeth, Davie, Christine, Cheryl, John, Wendy, Vanessa, Matthew, Kimberley, Carolee, Patty and Jamie; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and his significant other, Beverly Su Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Hazelwood; and his second wife, Judy Hazelwood.
Services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with visitation scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to the time of service. Rev. Stanley R. Sutton will officiate. Burial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 407 Short St., Centerville.
